Benefits of Dance

Benefits of Dancing with Us!

Here are some of the advantages with joining the Saskatoon International Folkdance Club, straight from our members themselves!

  • No partner needed, most dances are circular or in lines.
  • Focus is recreation and fun while you are learning and participating with others.
  • Music is varied in tempos and rhythms with dances varying in style and expression. There is something for everyone as the music is from all over the world. Dances range from Beginners to Advanced each meeting.
  • Dances are lead. The easier dances are repetitive so can be picked up by following the leader or by dancing behind club members.
  • Opportunity to attend workshops and learn from the professionals.
  • Opportunities to share folkdances by performing at various venues and cultural events throughout the year.
  • Burning calories while having fun. Dancing is a good source of exercise that improves balance and flexibility and gives a good aerobic workout while participating in a team activity with dancing friends.
  • Improved memory, concentration and confidence are all linked to dancing.
  • Social evenings up to 5 times per year where we share a variety of dances and foods.
  • Meet new people and build friendships.

  • A big Thank You to our friends at Surrey International FolkDancing Society for sharing their articles with us, and YOU!
